Madden 25 picks the Broncos and Eli picks the Seahawks

Madden 25 picks the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl.  Madden has predicted 8 of the last 10 Super Bowls.  But Eli picks the Seahawks!

Not Eli Manning, Eli an Ape who has predicted 6 Super Bowls in a row.  He's picked the Seahawks.  So who will it be Madden or Eli the Ape?

Be sure to vote for who you think will win on Sunday.

This is an incredible shot out of William Carey University by cheerleader Ashlee Amau.  I know big deal it was a girl's ball right.

Carmelo Anthony is on Fire Lately

Carmelo Anthony has been on fire lately, torching the Bobcats with a Knicks record 62 points and now the prolific scorer joins elite company.  Anthony is now a member of the 19,000 point club which only has 49 members.

Carmelo started off the game scoring at will putting up 18 points in the first quarter.  He finished with 29 points as the Knicks stomped the Cavaliers 117-86.

Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker were all taking in a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.  When Welker appears to be the victim of a video bomber as they three Broncos receivers appear on the kiss cam.

Marshawn Lynch's Interview with Deion Sanders Got Remixed

The spectacular interview Marshawn Lynch did with Deion Sanders got remixed into a track that is sure to blow your mind.  Bout that action is going to make you shake your ass, via Black Sports Online:

This is Exactly What I Think About Joe Buck

As a fan of the New York Yankees and as a person who has forced myself to sit through Joe Buck broadcasts, I can honestly say this is exactly what I think of him.  Unfortunately it's from the comedy site Funny or Die.  So I'm a little upset it isn't real and even more upset that I might have gained some respect for Joe for even doing it.

Joe Buck's Failed Super Bowl Promo from Funny Or Die

Peyton Manning Agrees with Richard Sherman "I Do Throw Ducks."

Peyton Manning agreed with Richard Sheman's criticism.  Saying, "I do throw ducks."  He of course went on to remind Sherman that he's thrown for a lot of yards and TD's with those ducks.  Manning cleverly responds as only he can do, that's right a little Peyton Manning trash talk.  Should make for a very good game.

See Manning's response here.

Lindsey Duke Nude Selfie Leaked

(@LiindseyDuke)

Lindsey Duke aka the next Katherine Webb is the girlfriend of UCF quarterback Blake Bortles.  Well she's now the latest semi-famous person to have a nude picture leak online.  Right Entertainment posted a story with a link to the picture and it looks legit and looks like it is her.

Ben Scrivens Had 59 Saves in a Shutout Last Night

Edmonton Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens set an NHL record with 59 saves in a shutout victory.  He was in the zone and the save below is amazing.  Almost as amazing is the description of the play by the announcers.  Be prepared to her "juicy rebound" and "great wood."

This is Why Lolo Jones Made the US Bobsledding Team

Lolo Jones posted a video to vine of her putting on her bobsledding uniform.  This is after all why she made the team, to bring attention to the Winter Games.

Here is another look at the uniform.

Kevin Durant and OKC Get the Better of LeBron and the Heat

Kevin Durant showed everyone he can't be stopped even by one of the best defenders in the league.  The star of the Oklahoma City Thunder extended his 30+ points per game streak to 12 in a row.  The Heat came out fast but fizzled in the end as Durant put on a show.

The game sent a message to LeBron James and the Heat.  Durant is coming for that MVP and the Thunder want those rings.

Gregg Popovich and his Two Word Interview

Gregg Popovich always gives entertaining interviews and his latest just might be his best.  It's a two word response and I love it.

Marshawn Lynch "I'm Just Here So I Won't Get Fined"

Marshawn Lynch gave an uncomfortable interview with the media clearly expressing his displeasure with the whole process.  He made it be known pretty early on that he was only there to avoid being fined.

You can tell by his answers its more than some sort of anxiety, Lynch doesn't like the line of questioning and thinks it unnecessary.  I agree.  I don't need him to discuss his personal life or thoughts on particular plays or games, I just need the entertainment on Sundays.

And Lynch brings it on Sundays!

Paul George Making it Look Easy

Paul George has been leading the best team in the east all year and he's been doing it with plays like the one in the video below.  That's right the best team in the east isn't the Miami Heat.  The Pacers are coming for them and doing so in impressive fashion.

The only question is will the Pacers have enough when it's playoff time to beat the defending champs?

Chipper Jones to the Rescue

Chipper Jones is enjoying his retirement from baseball and his new career as a super hero.  The former Atlanta Brave came to the rescue of current Brave Freddie Freeman when Freddie got stuck in traffic.

A winter storm blew through the southeast and the Atlanta area yesterday as Freeman was out in his car and of course he was stuck because its Atlanta and the traffic is already horrendous.  He called on Chipper who came to the rescue.

Jahvid Best Sues the NFL because of Concussions

Jahvid Best is not only suing the NFL but the helmet maker Riddell for concussions he sustained.  Via Detroit Free Press:
Best, who turns 25 on Thursday, filed suit against the league and helmet maker Riddell in Wayne County Circuit Court on Tuesday.
The 90-page filing alleges that the NFL knew about the risks of concussions but didn’t do enough to protect players, and seeks unspecified “economic and noneconomic damages” of more than $25,000.
Best also has a worker’s compensation claim pending against the Lions.
Now I have a couple of questions about this lawsuit.  The very first one and one that I've had from the beginning of this whole concussion thing is- when has it been good for anyone to repeatedly bang their head into things?  The players have to know that is a risk of playing the game.

Also how is a helmet supposed to prevent your brain from movement inside of your skull?  The helmets main purpose is protection from skull fracture and other external injuries.

Now to Best's lawsuit against the NFL- how do you sue the NFL if you suffered at least one concussion prior to playing in the NFL?  And by the looks of it a pretty severe concussion at that.

I'm sorry I hate that any of these guys are suffering in their post playing days but the risks are pretty obvious to me.  At the same time the NFL is raking in billions of dollars off of these men's willingness to play the game, so they should put some money aside to help with their care after they finish playing.

The Hard Hitting Media Day Questions

Okay so you probably wouldn't classify these as hard hitting questions, but I guess someone had to ask them right?  We all want to know about the best sock game and if Beast Mode has cavities don't we?

Here are some of the most ridiculous questions from media day.

More after the Jump

Warren Sapp Gets a Little Excited Talking About Media Day

The always entertaining Warren Sapp brought his A game to the NFL Network to discuss media day.  Yeah media day does that sometimes even to the best.  From the hat to his facial expressions nobody does it like Warren.

Okay Now Comes the Helmet for the Pitcher, What's Next?

Well not exactly a helmet but a "protective cap."  And why you must ask?  Because everything we do as humans has to be 100% safe with absolutely no risk of injury whatsoever.  Why else?  The protective helmet on pitchers is just another sign that we as a society are flushing ourselves down the toilet.

MLB has approved the use of protective caps for pitcher in spring training.

The pitcher getting hit in the head is an unfortunate event, when it occurs.  But it is far rarer than you'd think with all of the focus it's receiving the last few years.  There are hundreds of pitches thrown in a game multiplied by every game for every team and you have a very large number of pitches per game.

Now lets take into account how many of those pitches are first hit then hit even remotely near the pitcher's mound and we have a small number of events over a season per team.  Making protective head gear for a pitcher absolutely unnecessary.  Not to mention the fact that somethings we do in life have risks associated with them.

Are we going to create sort of protective bubble for people when they cross the street?  Because I'm sure you'll find pedestrians are far more likely to be struck by a car than pitchers hit in the head with a line drive.

Now don't give me that argument that batters wear helmets because I'll point you back to second paragraph.  There are hundreds of pitches thrown per game at batters making them far more likely to be struck, so in that context it makes more sense they would wear a helmet.

Football is already being turned into two hand touch and now baseball will have players in full battle armor for protection.  Why not put a screen up in front of them?  Will they replace the outfield grass with a soft pad so that when outfielders dive they won't get injured?  I have a simple resolution to both- teach tackling in football and finishing in good fielding position in baseball.

Anything worth doing has risks!

Chick that Ran on the Field During the Pro Bowl wasn't Arrested

Katrina Torres took off onto the field in the 4th quarter of the Pro Bowl adding some excitement to a normally boring affair.  But after she was caught by security the 23 year old wasn't arrested due to the power of Deion Sanders.  Well not exactly Torres ran on the field for her paralyzed cousin and wasn't carted off to jail for the action but she was banned from the stadium for a year.  Giving her plenty of time to plan a run on the field at next year's Pro Bowl.

Kate Upton Does Victor Cruz's Salsa Dance

Kate Upton was in the end zone at Met Life stadium for giggles the camera guy and couldn't help herself.  She had to do Victor Cruz's salsa end zone dance of course after spike her football purse.

Durant Hits Game Winner

Kevin Durant can't be stopped.  He has 11 games in a row of 30 points or more and buried the winning shot in last nights game.  If you look closely, okay you don't have to look closely it's pretty obvious, he made the game winner while being triple teamed.

Skittles Releases a Seattle Mix

Marshawn Lynch gets a deal with Skittles.  They made a Seattle mix with the Seahawks green and blue check it out.

David Ortiz is Delusional

David Ortiz threatened to walk after this upcoming season if he's unable to get a long term deal from the Red Sox.  Ortiz is 38 and since he's failed a drug test in the past, I'm going to assume he had some help last season especially in the post season.

With that said how can he really expect a long term deal at 38?  And if he does end up leaving Boston who will give a 38 year old who, with help, can only hit?

The Big Three Sing Jodeci at Charity Event

The Miami Heat's big three- Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh sang a Jodeci song at Shane Battier's charity event.  The night was full of Heat karaoke acts and Black Sports Online has all the coverage of the event.

Miss USA is Talking Some Football

Miss USA 2013 Erin Brady joined FOX for some reason to talk some football.  She let her feelings about the Super Bowl be known (maybe) sporting a Peyton Manning jersey on the set, along with her sash of course.

Richard Sherman Gave His Teammates $25k Beats

Richard Sherman gave his teammates special Super Bowl Beats by Dre that happen to cost a coll $25k a piece.  Sherman is of course in a new commercial for the the headphones that can be seen here.

Not a bad gift, add great gift giver to his list of great qualities.

Dana White Not Happy with Scoring Again

Dana White is never shy when it comes to expressing himself and this weekend was no different.  White was not happy with Saturday's scoring of the UFC on FOX's main event- Benson Herderson vs Josh Thomson.  Henderson won by decision.

The Pro Bowl Happened

Well whatever that was that we still don't want to watch.  How long is the NFL going to continue to play this game?  They threw a lot of money and effort into this year's Pro Bowl because it's different, but is it really?  Isn't it still pretty much an advance two hand tag game?

Team Rice defeated team Sanders 22-21 on a two point conversion at the end of the game.  Seems a little too perfect for the new Pro Bowl.  You know the new format no more AFC and NFC.  They moved it to the week before the Super Bowl so now players in the Super Bowl can't "play" in it and guess what that wasn't good enough.  Now old retired players draft the teams- big deal.  That didn't make me watch it.

I get having some way of recognizing a player's good season, that's great.  Call them Pro Bowlers just stop with the actual game.

Melo Torches the Bobcats

Carmelo Anthony scored a Knick record and career high 62 points against the Charlotte Bobcats at Madison Square Garden.  Melo's 62 points is the most in the NBA since Kobe Bryant dropped 65 in 2007.  Are the struggling Knicks still looking to move Melo after this?

As you'd expect and as illustrated by this graphic he was on fire.  He even hit a half court shot in this game, see that here.

Yeah I'm not a fan and I don't understand why the NBA is pushing these.  It's nice I guess that they're inspired by the Brooklyn Dodgers uniforms, but why sleeves? It's a terrible look.

Getting Ready For the Super Bowl Outdoors in the North in Winter

Not one of the NFL's brightest ideas a Super Bowl outdoors in the north.  They do know it's winter and people would rather throw a small fortune at tickets to a warm weather stadium, right?

They actually have discussed postponing the game if the weather is too bad.

It's official Richard Sherman you've made it to super star status.  When kids start imitating you on camera it's a clear sign that you're a household name.  Check out these kids reenacting Sherman's interview with Erin Andrews.

Pro Bowl Teams Have Been Drafted

Pro Bowl draft finished up and this happened.  Yep that's Andrew Luck, enjoying the Hawaiian weather.

See the rosters here.

Browns Hire Bill Defensive Coordinator

The Browns hired the Bills defensive coordinator, no I'm serious.  Mike Pettine served as the Bills defensive coordinator after working for Rex Ryan in Baltimore and New York.

It was a very long and drawn out process for the struggling franchise who's biggest holes lie on the offensive side of the ball.

Super Bowl Prediction

Seahawks and Broncos mascots faced off on ESPN today.  Bringing to mind the fact that since I attempted to predict the playoffs up to this point I might as well take a shot at the big one.

The number 1 offense against the number 1 defense should make for a nice game.  As much as I love defense the Broncos are going to be hard to stop.  And the Seahawks are going to have to be able to throw the ball more than they have been.

I'm going to root for the Seahawks but pick the Broncos.

Vince Carter Throws One Down In Toronto

Vince Carter and his Mavericks were in his old stomping ground in Toronto taking on the Raptors.  The fans booed Carter when he touched the ball.  Carter proved he could still jump high enough to dunk, it was no Air Canada or whatever he was called when he played in Toronto but it quieted the crowd.

The Richard Sherman Mic'd Up Audio

Richard Sherman wasn't lying when he said all he did was go up to Michael Crabtree and say "good game."  It turns out Crabtree is the sore loser as there was no gloating tone in Sherman's voice.  He seems to genuinely be giving Crabtree props on a "helluva game," which is what it sounds like Sherman actually said.

NFL Cheerleaders Start a Petition for a Living Wage

This is something we can all support.  The amount of money in professional football is amazing and just as amazing is the little bit that makes its way to the cheerleaders.  The NFL cheerleaders have started a petition to receive a living wage and when you take into account how hard it is to make the squad and then all of the work they put in there really isn't a logical argument against it.  Here is part of what the petition says:
NFL cheerleaders are one of the most recognizable mainstays of the sport, rooting on their teams in extreme weather and performing stunning, difficult routines for millions of fans. But while cheerleaders bring in as much as 1 million dollars each season for their teams in merchandising and promotion, many get paid as little as $150 per game.
So head on over and sign the petition that can be found here and help support these women.

The Knicks Continue to Struggle

The Knicks have now lost 5 straight in what has been an already frustrating year.  They dropped the game last night to the 76ers 110-106.  But it was not without entertainment as the Knicks' Andrea Bargnani attempted to dunk on someone and lets just say it wasn't pretty.

It's the Richard Sherman Show

Pay attention kids this is Richard Sherman's world we're all just living in it!  Sherman did a press conference today and there is so much knowledge in it just take a minute ans sit back and listen.  I'm a huge fan.

More from his press conference.

The Richard Sherman Rant Before The Richard Sherman Rant

There is new video that has surfaced online traced back to Deadspin as the first to put it out but simply put it is the Richard Sherman rant before the Richard Sherman rant.  Someone beat Erin Andrews to the punch although her interview received far more attention, she even receives a big hug!

Richard Sherman Joins Top Dogs for Jersey Sales

Everyone was jumping all over Richard Sherman for his awesome post game interview with Erin Andrews but it turns out we secretly love it.  Some of us not so secretly, I didn't see anything wrong with what he did.  Sherman's jersey sales have now jumped into the top 10.  So as it turns out the brilliant man who went to Stanford with a 3.9 GPA knows what he's doing.

He's a defensive star in Seattle.  We normally see the microphones shoved into the faces of the teams quarterbacks but Sherman ended the game with a spectacular defensive play.  He then made the most of his time on camera.  People are going to hate on him no matter what.  I find the bicep kiss of Kaepernick more annoying than what Sherman did.

10. Richard Sherman- See the full list of the Top Ten Here.

Pro Bowl Cheerleaders in the House

The Pro Bowl Cheerleading squad is in Hawaii and the ladies look like they're enjoying themselves.

Pro Bowl Roster After Day One of the Draft

As you know the NFL has moved to a new format for the Pro Bowl.  No conferences and the teams will be drafted.  It's the leagues latest effort to try to get fans interested in the game, this years captains are Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders.

Yankees Sign Tanaka

The New York Yankees have improved their rotation with the signing of Masahiro Tanaka.  The pitcher had an unbelievable year in Japan last year and reportedly received a 7 year $155 million dollar contract.

They Let Tim Legler Play with the Touchscreen Again

Tim Legler played with the touchscreen and the results were not good.  Legs drew a frown and tears on Carmelo Anthony's face to describe his season so far.  Oh, that's why they hired him to discuss sports, it all makes sense now!

Unranked Creighton Destroys Number 4 Villanova

Creighton started off fast and never looked back hitting 9 three's in a row to open up their game against number 4 Villanova.  They never looked back stomping them 96-68.  Creighton set a Big-East record by hitting 21 3-pointers.

Peyton Manning Taking Audibles to another Level

Peyton Manning's audible, Omaha became a huge hit last week and even trended on twitter.  So the Broncos quarterback naturally came up with some more viral magic with, "bags, montana, fat man, fat man."

ENJOY!

Richard Sherman Explains Himself

Richard Sherman discusses his Crabtree rant.

Not only did he do an interview in which he claims he was mic'd up but he also wrote an article explaining his now infamous Erin Andrews interview and why it went down the way it did.

People are making way too much out of this but it's entertaining as hell.

Whoops! New England Patriots AFC Champs Shirts Were in Stores Before the Actual Game

Umm....one thing wrong with that!  The Denver Broncos actually won the AFC Championship.  That's one way to blow $500,000 dollars!  That's how much Modell's Sporting Goods reportedly spent on the Patriots AFC Champions gear.

Bill Belichick Calls Welker Hit on Talib "one of the worst plays I've seen"

Bill Belichick called out his former receiver Wes Welker for the huge hit that put Aqib Talib out of the AFC Championship game.  Welker now a Bronco smashed Talib as he ran across the middle of the field trying to cover another receiver.  Welker of course a former Patriot, who didn't leave on the best of terms might have had a motive behind the hit.

Maria Sharapova Lost at the Australian Open

Maria Sharapova lost at the Australian Open to Dominika Cibulkova and somehow we all won.  You don't have to be a fan of tennis to enjoy the Sharapova vs Cibulkova match up.  The two squared off in the Australian Open unfortunately there had to be a loser.

It's a Celebration!

With the NFC and AFC Championships in the books both Broncos and Seahawks fans celebrated their teams Super Bowl births.

Richard Sherman's Great Post Game Interview with Erin Andrews

The Seahawks came back and beat the 49ers 23-17 and will face the Broncos in the Super Bowl.  After the game Erin Andrews attempted to interview Richard Sherman who tipped a pass in the end zone that lead to an interception and ended the 49ers season.  What happened next is TV/internet gold!

Navarro Bowman Suffers Nasty Knee Injury

Navarro Bowman suffered a nasty knee injury while stripping the ball.  Bowman was hurt and on top of that the referees got the call wrong and the Seahawks kept the ball.  After the play Bowman was carted off of the field with what we can only guess is a significant knee injury.

Donte Whitner still doesnt know the Rules

Head hunter extraordinaire Donte Whitner continues to launch himself at receivers heads despite all kinds of warnings and previous fines.  Whitner clearly doesn't understand the rules of the game.  It would be one thing if this wasn't a continuing thing for him but it is.

The Receivers Got Some Payback in the AFC Championship game

New England's Julian Edelman got the hitting by receivers started with this huge block.  But it was Wes Welker's hit that had the most impact on the game.  That's because Welker's hit knocked New England's best corner, Aqib Talib back out of the game with an injury.

Peyton Manning got the best of  Tom Brady and the Broncos' beat the Patriots 26-16.  With Talib out of the game Denver's passing game really took off.  Ultimately making the difference and sending the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl.

Paul George Did a 360 Dunk in a Game

Paul George pulled of the dunk of the year after sealing the ball he threw down a 360 dunk.  It's one thing to pull off this dunk in practice or a dunk contest but to do it in another game takes it to another level.  The best part is the reaction from the Pacers bench.

This Chick Beat Serena Williams So She's on ESPN Now

Ana Ivanovic took out the number one ranked tennis player Serena Williams at the Australian Open.  According to Serena she was injured and beat herself but Ivanovic is not getting some attention and airtime from ESPN.

Went to a Hockey Fight and a Boxing Match Broke Out

The Canucks and Flames wasted no time getting out a little frustration against each other.  The teams squared off at the opening puck drop (or whatever it's called).  Apparently the the Flames were getting back at the Canucks for something that happened earlier in the week when the two teams faced off.

Even The Greats Get Dunked On

LeBron James was hustling to get back on defense and what happened next is not the norm.  Charlotte Bobcat, Ramon Session went up for the fast break dunk and jammed it over LeBron.  This was the one out of ten I guess because LeBron usually smacks that off of the glass.

Not quite posterized but I'm sure Sessions will take it.

Justin Verlander out Six Weeks After Surgery...not back with Kate Upton

Justin Verlander had core repair surgery and will be out six weeks.  The Detroit Tigers pitcher suffered the injury during his off season conditioning program.  That's right he hurt himself working out!  And you think you work out, have you ever busted your core?

The surgery also explains the recent spotting of him with his ex-girlfriend Kate Upton.  Upton visited him before his surgery but they're not back together.

Eric Decker and Wife Jesse James Did a GQ Photo Shoot

Just in time for the AFC Championship game!  Eric Decker and his pregnant wife, Jesse James did a steamy photo shoot fro GQ.  The Bronco's wide receiver has no problems showing off his awesome wife.

Davone Bess Arrested at an Airport

Davone Bess wasn't going to let Kellen Winslow steal all of the Manning vs Brady bowl by himself.  No he had to get arrested too.  Bess was reportedly acting a little crazy as he was walking through an airport when a police officer asked him to stop.

Bess then proceeded to crush his coffee cup on the officer.  The officer responded by striking Bess with his baton to which Bess naturally took off his shirt and got in his best boxer stance.  he eventually complied and was taken into custody.  See the mugshot and get a blow by blow account of the incident here.

Kellen Winslow Arrested For Synthetic Weed and He Was doing What with Vaseline?

There is a big weekend coming up in the NFL and Kellen Winslow is doing his best to make it about him.  But he's not playing this weekend you say to yourself.

You are correct however the New York Jets tight end managed to get arrested for synthetic marijuana and masturbating in his car.  A woman reported seeing Winslow masturbating in his car, according to GameDayr:
Police recovered five bags of “Mr. Happy,” eight empty vials of “Funky Monkey,” and one empty bag of “K2 XXX” – all synthetic marijuanas. They also found two open containers of Vaseline in the vehicle. That’s a bunch of fake weed, and a hell of a lot of lube for one guy. That’s a a f***ing soldier, right there.

Dodgers make Kershaw the Highest Paid Pitcher in History

The Dodgers make Clayton Kershaw the highest paid pitcher in the history of baseball with a 7 year $215 million dollar contract.  That is an unbelievable amount of money for someone that will pitch maybe 7 innings in 35 of your 162 games.  I'm sorry I understand how much good pitching means but I'm not following this kind of contract for a pitcher.

So where are all the haters?  Why aren't people pissed about this or the Cano deal for that matter?  The Yankees get all kinds of hell for signing players but when other teams do it, nobody thinks anything of it.

I actually had a Red Sox fan tell me recently that the Yankees buy their championships.  Hey buddy HOW THE FUCK do you think the Red Sox have won theirs lately?  Putting money into your players is how it's supposed to work.  You have teams throwing it away on all kinds of unnecessary garbage.

Did you know the worst team in the MLB made the most profit in 2013?  Check it out here.

Mark Cuban Doesn't Agree With A Rod's Suspension

Mark Cuban says Bud Selig has too much power and disagrees with A-Rod's punishment.  Cuban appeared on The Tonight Show and shared his opinion, which I might add follows what I've been saying all along.

Georges St. Pierre Reveals Why He Left UFC

George St. Pierre thinks the UFC is not properly testing the fighters.  He recently vacated his welterweight belt after attempting to pursue independent testing prior to his last title defense.  He seems to know something everyone else doesn't.  He implies that there are a lot of fighters who use steroids and the UFC knows it and others in the sport know it but don't speak up.

Here are just some of his comments and as you would expect the UFC isn't happy with his statement.

Judge Says $765 Million Not Enough

The NFL concussion settlement has been denied by a judge.  She states the $765 million dollar settlement might not be enough to cover the long term medical bills of some of the players who suffered head injuries during their playing days.

The NFL definitely banks enough money to ensure players don't go broke due to medical issues when they retire.

Mike Trout is a Freak Athlete

Everyone knows Mike Trout is a very good baseball player but he's also a freak of nature.  Check out Trout's insane jumping ability in this video he posted to his instagram account.  It's an insane display of athletic ability.

Look Who's Back!

Check out Greg Oden playing for the first time in an NBA game since 2009.  That's right the frequently injured Oden has worked his way back from his multiple injures and even retirement and wasted no time reintroducing himself with the rim.

Not Like There is a Game to Talk About

There was a lot of talk swirling around the internet regarding the San Francisco 49ers head coach.  Was it his game plan?  Was he taking shots at his opponent or his opponent's coach?  Because it's reportedl a heated rivalry between the 49ers and the Seahawks and their coaches Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll.

No, none of the talk surround any of this or the game itself.  The focus was Harbaugh's $8 dollar Wal-Mart khakis and his wife's hatred of them.

Here he is busted with khakis in hand:

Tom Brady Did Not PracticeToday

Concern and speculation swirl as the Patriots practiced without Tom Brady on Wednesday.  The rumor is that Brady was suffering from an undisclosed illness and the Patriots weren't talking.  The Patriots biggest game of the season is coming up Sunday and everyone expects he'll be ready to go despite missing practice.

Jorge Posada Catching Again?

Jorge Posada caught a bullpen session for the Washington Nationals Gio Gonzalez and Gio shared it on instagram.  The retired Yankees catcher needs to do some work with some Yankees pitchers!  The Nationals rotation should be fine.  Either way it is good to see Jorge behind the plate!

Anderson Silva's Leg Looks Normal Again!

Remember when it was 2013, so long ago!  And this happened to Anderson Silva's leg.  Well it's 2014 and modern medicine was able to repair Silva's broken leg and it seems to be healing nicely.  All of the news since the injury is that Silva plans to fight again but time will tell if he's every able to do so and at the highest level.

A Houston Woman Claims to be Pregnant by Arian Foster

A 20 year old U of H student, Brittany Norwood claims to be pregnant by Arian Foster.  But she also claims Foster has been harassing her to have an abortion.  Because Foster is already married with children, oops!

Might help explain why he was having a hard time on the field with a family and a girlfriend to keep up with off of it.

A Rod Sues the MLB

Alex Rodriguez sued the MLB as promised and went a step further to sue the MLB players union.  The lawsuit reveals the arbitrator's ruling and there is still nothing that makes his 162 game suspension seem fair.  A Rod is swinging back an refuses to take this ruling without a fight.

Again please explain how what A Rod did was worse than what Ryan Braun did and why he deserves 162 games and Braun received 65 games.

The Lions Hire Jim Caldwell

The vacant NFL head coaching jobs have one less available.  The Detroit Lions sign Jim Caldwell to be their next head coach.

He recently served as the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator and prior to that as the Colts head coach.

Playoff Predictions: Championship Round

I haven't had a very good year with my playoff prediction going a combined 3-5 in my first two weeks.  But I'm going to take a stab at the Championship weekend anyway.

Sunday
3:00 PM
Patriots
Broncos

6:30 PM
49ers
Seahawks

Now the AFC/NFC Championship predictions.  I'm going Broncos over the Patriots and the Seahawks over the 49ers.  Both should be good games although I have a feeling there could be a blow out brewing in Seattle!

Ken Whisenhunt Wastes No Time

Ken Whisenhunt accepts the Titans head coach job jut hours after the Chargers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Broncos.  Whisenhunt served as the Chargers high flying offensive coordinator and was interviewed by several teams and thought to be the leading candidate for the Detroit Lions head coaching job.

Steve Smith "that's the dumbest question"

Steve Smith wasn't a happy camper after Sunday's loss to San Francisco and a reporter didn't help his mood asking the Panthers wide receiver if he would be rooting for another team.  Smith held back as much as he could but was clearly aggravated by the questioning.

Broncos/Chargers Fans Come Together Over Weed

Check out a Chargers fan smoking a little weed with a Broncos fan inside Mile High stadium.  With Denver's new weed rules apparently you can smoke it anywhere.  Including an NFL stadium.

The 60 Minutes Interview Didn't Do The MLB Any Favors

I'm not sure I would be very happy with the 60 Minutes story Sunday night on the A Rod PED investigation and suspension if I were Bud Selig or any of the execs at MLB.

Let my start off by being very clear I am not, as a third generation fan of the Yankees, an Alex Rodriguez fan.  Well that is not until the outrageous 211 game suspension was handed down.  I think Alex is an incredible asshole who is in a lot of cases is deservedly hated.  But I believe in fair treatment and his suspension is in no way far.

Now back to the 60 Minutes story which was in large part an interview with the man behind Biogenesis, Anthony Bosch.  A man that has every motivation in the world to say whatever it is that he thinks Bud Selig and Major League Baseball want to hear.

We learned during the show that MLB is paying for his personal security and his lawyers and legal fees.  Facts that are new and incredibly damning in my eyes to Major League Baseball's case against A Rod.  It looks a lot like buying his testimony to me.

We also learned that A Rod supposedly has a crew of people, like some sort of Mob boss and among these people are men who threatened to kill Bosch.  Now if in fact A Rod threatened to kill someone and the MLB thought that was the case, which they did in fact imply during the show, how does he only receive (initially anyway) a 211 game suspension?

Did A Rod use PED's?  I 100% have no doubt that he did.  I also have no doubt that there is enough evidence to suspend him for it.  But there is nothing that warrants a 211 or 162 game suspension.

How does a man who wins the NL MVP fail a drug test, win an appeal of the test on a technicality, drag the collector of the test through the mud, lie to everyone and make outrageous claims about hidden antisemitism receive only a 65 game suspension and A Rod who has never failed a drug test get 211 games?

It is true A Rod admitted using PED's but that was before they were testing and before punishment.  You know when they let the obviously juiced up Barry Bonds break the single season and ultimately the career home run marks.

Did I miss something?  I didn't hear anything that warranted a suspension above the first time offense of 50 games.  With the MLB essentially buying Bosch, I heard just the opposite of what they had been claiming.  It actually gives A Rod some credibility.  Surely Bud Selig, who could barely disguise his hatred of Alex, didn't want to do that.

NFC and AFC Championship Games Set

Sunday was another good day for the NFL and a bad day for their referees.  The refs continued their season long assault on the integrity of the game, nothing that had an impact on the ultimate outcomes.

I personally finished the weekend 2-2 with my picks as the Panthers fell flat in the second half and lost 23-10 to the 49ers.  Defense was the name of the game and the 49ers played better on that side of the ball setting up an excellent NFC Championship game in Seattle against the Seahawks.

The Broncos/Chargers game ended with a fairly close score of 24-17 but the game was never in doubt as Peyton Manning and the Broncos passing attack proved to be too much.  In the AFC Champonship game we get another Manning/Brady game and one that should be an instant classic.

An Amazing Thing Happened in One of Saturday's Games

A rare moment took place on the field during the Patriots playoff game.  There were three white receivers on the field at the same time for the Patriots.

Danny Amendola, Julian Edleman and Austin Collie were out on the field at the same time.  Pretty much explains why they went with the ground and pound approach.

Wes Welker who?

Another Terrible Day for the NFL's Refs

It was another terrible day in the NFL for the referees.  Did they affect the outcome of the games? Unlikely, but they missed some pretty easy calls.  But it is par for the course.

Vince Wilfork Was At Saturday's Game

Vince Wilfork was at the Patriots game on Saturday, sort of.  The injured Patriots defensive lineman had that far off repeated head injury look in his eyes.

Saturday's Playoff Games Are in the Book

The Saturday Divisional Playoff games are in the book.  With Seattle and New England both taking care of business in a rainy opening day of the Divisional round.

The early game was the Seattle game and they handled the Saints pretty easily just as they did during the regular season.  Jimmy Graham was held to one catch in the final seconds of the game as the Seahawks defense set the tone.  The final score was 23-15 Seahawks.

The late game had the power run of the Patriots taking out the Colts.  You read that right the power running Patriots.  They put up 43 points without a Tom Brady TD pass.  It was the LeGarret Blount show, he had 4 rushing TD's and lead the Pats to a very easy 43-22 win.

The NFC champ will go through Seattle with the winner of Sunday's Panthers/49ers matchup taking them on.  Depending on the winner of the Broncos/Chargers game it will either be New England or Denver for the AFC.

And by the way I'm 1-1 so far with my picks.

A Rod Suspension Reduced

An arbitrator has reduced A Rod's 211 game suspension to at least 162 games.  The 162 games is the least amount of time because the suspension also includes the post season if the Yankees make the post season.  It remains the longest PED suspension in the history of baseball.

A Rod is not going to take the suspension laying down, he plans to pursue the case in federal court.  Here is part of his statement, via CBS Sports:
"I have been clear that I did not use performance enhancing substances as alleged in the notice of discipline, or violate the Basic Agreement or the Joint Drug Agreement in any manner, and in order to prove it I will take this fight to federal court. I am confident that when a Federal Judge reviews the entirety of the record, the hearsay testimony of a criminal whose own records demonstrate that he dealt drugs to minors, and the lack of credible evidence put forth by MLB, that the judge will find that the panel blatantly disregarded the law and facts, and will overturn the suspension. No player should have to go through what I have been dealing with, and I am exhausting all options to ensure not only that I get justice, but that players' contracts and rights are protected through the next round of bargaining, and that the MLB investigation and arbitration process cannot be used against others in the future the way it is currently being used to unjustly punish me.
I will continue to work hard to get back on the field and help the Yankees achieve the ultimate goal of winning another championship. I want to sincerely thank my family, all of my friends, and of course the fans and many of my fellow MLB players for the incredible support I received throughout this entire ordeal."
Now I don't have a problem with Alex being suspended even without a failed drug test, but the punishment should be fair and consistent.  Players who previously failed a test, blamed a drug test collector, denied using drugs, even went as far as to claim antisemitism only receive a 50 game suspension (Ryan Braun).  It doesn't add up.

I thoroughly believe Bud Selig has made this personal and has gone after Alex Rodriguez because of his personal dislike of him.  I have no doubt A Rod took the PED's and probably has done so his entire career.
My problem is with the handing down of the punishment and it's incredible severity in relation to the other players involved in this particular case.  Be consistent, be fair.

Yasiel Puig Was Wearing Pink Shorts When He Was Arrested for Speeding

I find the most disturbing part of this arrest not the fact that Yasiel Puig was driving 110 mph but his pink shorts.  Puig apparently doesn't have a drivers license either.

Officer close the door on the car, will ya?

T.O. Set to Get Married

That's right former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens is set to marry.  He has reportedly applied for a marriage license and his girlfriend posted a pic of what appears to be an engagement ring recently.  The woman is a longtime girlfriend and postal worker from Texas.

Charissa Thompson And Her Tight Pants Interview Pierre Garcon

Charissa Thompson and her tight pants are very talented as is evident in the Pierre Garcon interview.  She has taken over Fox Sports and is the top reason to watch Fox Sports Live, as I once tweeted and as it turned out offended the rest of the cast.  But it remains true.

Houston Rockets Pull a Prank on Their Players

It's all fun and games in Houston for the Rockets as their sitting in second place in the South West at 23-13.  Things are going so well that the Rockets decided to prank their players after practice.  They used "Clutch the Bear" their mascot to jump out at the players as they walked passed and the reactions are priceless.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is Taking Aim at the Other Cheerleading Squad from Texas

The Houston Texans cheerleaders have been topping all cheerleader squads when it comes to the videos they put out.  We all know the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders are known worldwide but they haven't been putting out videos until now.

They put a GoPro camera on a hula hoop and what happened next is not only pure magic, but gives the Texans cheerleaders a run for their money.

Jay Gruden Wants it To Be About the Washington Redskins not RGIII

Jay Gruden has spent most of his time since the announcement that he will be the Redskins' new head coach doing interviews.  Gruden addressed his new team's quarterback situation saying he "thinks RGIII is the starter," going into the season.

He also took the opportunity to say that it's about the Washington Redskins not RGIII.  Interesting statement from the new head coach.

Stewart Cink Has the Worst Tan Line Ever

Golfer Stewart Sink might have the worst tan line in the history of tan lines.  The tan line is made worse by it's location.  It's not your typical farmer's tan, it's horrific!

Accuser to Seek Civil Suit Against Jameis Winston

The Heisman trophy winner and National Champion, Jameis Winston was seemingly out of the woods when the investigation into his alleged sexual assault yielded not enough evidence to move forward.  But as I said at the time a civil suit is still an option and appears to be the next move for the accuser.

Playoff Predictions: Divisional Round

Alright so the Playoffs are moving right along and now we see what the teams with bye weeks can do.  I had a rough week last week going 1-3 with my picks so hopefully this week I get a few more right.  Here is the schedule followed by the picks:

Saturday, Jan. 11
4:35 PM
Seattle Seahawks
New Orleans Saints

8:15 PM.
New England Patriots
Indianapolis Colts

Sunday, Jan. 12
1:05 PM
Carolina Panthers
San Francisco 49ers

4:40 PM
Denver Broncos
San Diego Chargers

I pick the Seahawks over the Saints- too much Seattle D and another beat down.

The Colts over the Patriots- never bet against Tom Brady but I think the inexperience at WR for the Pats will bite them, it's my upset pick.

Panthers over the 49ers- the Panthers beat them in SF and can do it again at home should be a good game.

And the Broncos over the Chargers- PEYTON MANNING that is all.

Like looking at picks?  Here are some more to check out.

Redskins Hire Gruden

The Redskins have hired Jay Gruden as their next head coach.  No not John Gruden, the former head coach turned Monday Night football announcer.  Jay his brother and now former Bengals offensive coordinator.  He takes over a tough job working for a tough owner and a less that stellar team.  Good Luck.

Blake Griffin Posterized Kris Humphries

Blake Griffin just made Kanye and the whole Kardashian clan happy with a monster dunk all over Kris Humphries.

It's one of Griffin's signature dunks where he throws it at the basket and never really touches the rim.  But he went right through and all over Humphries.

LeBron Kisses a Fan

It's every woman's dream right?  A kiss from LeBron James- a rich, high flying athlete, tell me that's every woman's dream.  Well it came true for one lucky lady sitting court side in Miami as the Heat smashed the New Orleans Pelicans.  I still can't believe they changed their name to the Pelicans.

The MLB Class of 2014 Hall of Fame Inductees have been Selected

The class of 2014 MLB hall of fame inductees have been announced.  Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas were the players voted in, all voted in on their first time on the ballot.  No real surprises here to 300 game winners and a 500 home run guy (not tainted by steroids).

They were joined by managers Joe Torre, Bobby Cox and Tony LaRussa- also no surprises here either.

It appears that our voters of our poll know their sports as 100% voted Maddux as the most likely to be voted in and he received 97% of the hall of fame vote.

Johnny Manziel is Heading to the NFL

Johnny Manziel has officially entered the NFL draft.  Texas A&M created a tribute to their 2012 Heisman trophy winning quarterback sending him off with a video of some of his best plays.

How will he do in the NFL?

There is a New UFC Champ!

There is a new UFC champion, well according to this pic.  It's Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.  No he didn't switch sports and actually earn the belt.  He was given one by the UFC after he asked for one.  Now he'll have to homer in batting practice with it on.

The Cavaliers Finally Dump Andrew Bynum

The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded Andrew Bynum but not to LA for Pau Gasol.  No the Cavs swapped their troubled big man to the Bulls for Luol Deng.  The reports are that the Bulls aren't going to keep him, they're expected to let him go almost immediately.

Dennis Rodman Was Interviewed by CNN

I'm not sure what CNN was thinking interviewing Dennis Rodman, they had to know he was going to make it as bizarre as possible.  But they did it anyway.  They interviewed Rodman and his friends about their trip to North Korea.

Enjoy.

Johnny Manziel "It would be awesome" to play for the Texans

TMZ caught up with Johnny Manziel out partying after the BCS championship game.  So of course they asked him what he thought of playing for the Texans.

Charlie Strong Hired at Texas

Texas has a new head coach.  They've hired Charlie Strong to be the next coach and the rumor is he won't take much crap!  Strong is a tough coach.  He's coached Louisville for the last 4 seasons and had a 37-15 record with a bowl appearance each year.

But not everyone is happy about the hiring, including some of the school's prominent boosters.
