Scott Van Slyke Has Shoe Lit on Fire by Teammates

The Dodgers seems to always be up to some sort of fun and games between innings.  This time it was Scott Van Slyke who had his shoe lit on fire, the ol hot foot.

Don Mattingly has to be the ultimate player's coach because he lets his team get away with a bunch of shenanigans.  And yes that last sentence was thrown in there so I could use the word shenanigans.

Mike Napoli Hits Home Run Off of Tanaka and Then Calls Him An Idiot

Masahiro Tanaka has been spectacular this year for the Yankees.  Tanaka had his magic working against the Red Sox into the 9th inning of a 1-1 tie.

He was rolling along until on a 1-2 count to Mike Napoli the Yankees ace tried to sneak a fastball by him.  Napoli deposited the 1-2 fastball into the right field bleachers, giving the Red Sox a 2-1 lead and the win.

Napoli was picked up by on the field mics calling Tanaka an idiot for throwing him a fastball instead of his nasty splitter.

Game Delayed After Two Fans Were Hit by a Foul Ball in Miami

Two fans were injured by a Nick Punto foul ball during the A's-Marlins game in Miami.  According to reports a woman and man were struck after the ball grazed a railing.

The woman was the first hit in the face before the ball continued on and hit the man.

A Rod Being Kept Out of Housing Because of Hookers

Alex Rodriguez has a lot of time on his hands with his season long suspension.  The Yankees disgraced star is attempting to move back into a bachelor's pad he used to rent.

According to The Other Paper the owners want no part of A Rod and his revolving door of hookers.
...the egotistical slugger had an insatiable libido, and his ritzy apartment became a revolving door for high-priced call girls, “usually two at a time, twice a week.”
Not surprising to me.  These rich athletes do a lot of crazy stuff.

The Tampa Bay Rays Can't Even Hit Off of a Girl Pitcher

The Tampa Bay Rays are the worst team in baseball and proved that when a 17 year old girl threw them batting practice.

She is the Knuckleball Princess and the Rays shouldn't have filmed this, via Larry Brown Sports:

LeBron to Opt Out, But is He Leaving South Beach

Reportedly LeBron James has decided to opt out of the last two years of his current deal.

The real question now, and what ESPN will be spending the NBA off season trying to figure out, is- will LeBron be leaving Miami, via HuffPo:
LeBron James has decided to opt out of the final two years of his contract with the Miami Heat and become a free agent on July 1.

Opting out does not mean James has decided to leave the Heat, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the four-time NBA MVP nor the team had made any public announcement.
So strap on your seat belts the LeBron coverage is going to be nauseating.

Your Suspicions of Tim Kukjian's Athletic Ability Have Been Confirmed

Tim Kurkjian participated in those stupid ass sausage races that are designed to distract fans from the fact that their team sucks.  Kurkjian confirmed what you already know, he has no athletic ability.

Carmelo Anthony is Going to the Bulls

Carmelo Anthony will sign with the Chicago Bulls....that is if he takes former NBA star Tracy McGrady's advice.

McGrady, who passed up the opportunity to play for the Bulls during his playing days, offered up the advice to Carmelo.

Whether it's a little regret or good advice I'm sure the Bulls are happy to hear it.

How About a World Cup Update

Again I refuse to watch any of the World Cup because, well because it's soccer.  Not even the hot girls that attend are enough to make me want to watch.

Michelle Wie Celebrates US Open Victory by Making a Twerking Video

Michelle Wie did pretty much the only thing one can do after winning the US Open. If you guessed make a twerking video, you are correct.

The US Open was 24 year olds first major victory.  So a little celebration is in order.

Check Out Darnell Dockett's OJ Simpson Tweet

This is where social media can get athletes into trouble.  Especially when you say stuff like this.

Arizona Cardinal, Darnell Dockett, sent out a very disturbing OJ Simpson tweet not claiming OJ's innocence but rather understanding for why OJ killed his wife.

Carmelo Will Opt Out, But Will He Remain a Knick?

Today Carmelo Anthony will formally notify the Knicks of his plan to opt out of the final year of his contract.  That means he will become a free agent on July 1st.

What it doesn't mean is that he won't be a Knick next season.  The Knicks have plenty of money to throw Anthony's way, but winning in the next season or two is unlikely.

But if Anthony can wait a couple of seasons while Phil Jackson works his magic they might be contenders.

The offseason fun is just getting started in the NBA

A Pitcher Wore One of Those Protective Hats in the MLB

So some pitcher for the Padres wore one of those new protective hats.  Because nobody can ever get hurt doing anything, oh and did I mention how cool they look?

This will eventually be forced on all pitchers, because like I said nobody can ever get hurt doing anything.  No matter how rare of an occurence a pitcher getting hit in the head really is.

Everyone must be protected from all things at all times everywhere.

Brad Ausmus Makes a I Beat My Wife Joke

Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus made a "I beat my wife" joke during an interview with the media.  Now there was a lot of laughter after his comments, but not everyone found them amusing.  Ausmus did preemptively apologize for his joke.

But come on folks it's a joke, relax.  The only way it's not funny is if he actually beats his wife, which is unlikely.

Matt Joyce Hit a Ball Back Into a Pitching Machine

Matt Joyce was taking some extra batting practice (as should the whole Rays team!) when he hit a ball that went back into the pitching machine.  No not a line drive, the Rays don't hit those, it was a pop up that hit the cage and ended up going right back into the machine.

It's pretty unbelievable and something you don't see everyday.

Chris Cooley Going to Protest the Chargers Name

Chris Cooley, speaking on his radio show, addressed the Redskins name change issue.  Let's just say he threw a very unique point of view out there and by the end of it was starting a protest of the Chargers name because of electricity and global warming!

This isn't the first time Cooley, a former Redskin, has defended the Redskins team name.  But this is the first time he's thrown out a protest of another team name.

Adrian Peterson Thinks He's The Best Player in the NFL

When asked where he ranks in the top 100 players in the NFL, Adrian Peterson said number 1.  I like the confidence, but with the increasingly shrinking role of the running back, I have to disagree.

He is however the best player on his team.  A team I might add that is still very dependent on the run.  The Vikings passing game unfortunately left when Favre retired.

Brett Favre and His Beard are Doing Political Ads Now

Pat Riley is Pissed and He Wants You to Know It

Heat President, Pat Riley, had a press conference on Thursday where he challenged LeBron James and Chris Bosh to return and make another title run.

But that wasn't his only message.  The smooth Riley opened up his press conference by slamming his hands down and letting everyone know he wasn't happy.

Terry Bradshaw Takes a Shot at Peyton Manning

Terry Bradshaw took time from his talk to take a shot at Peyton Manning.  I first hope nobody paid to see Bradshaw speak but then again who would sit there and listen for free?

Either way a viral moment was created when Bradshaw started talking about Manning being the best QB in the game currently, he said,“No one would argue with that, if you like winning during the season and losing the Super Bowl, that’s your guy.”

Now Bradshaw does know about winning Super Bowls, winning 4 himself.  But it's still a cheap shot at one of the best quarterbacks of our time.

The Hornets Revealed Their New Uniforms

The Charlotte Hornets are back dropping the Bobcats like a bad habit to return to their original team name.  With the return of the Hornets comes new uniforms and the old color scheme has returned as well.

Check them out:

Richard Sherman Got Into a Fist Fight in Seattle's Second Day of Mini Camp

Richard Sherman was right in the middle of a fight, where punches were thrown, on the second day of Seattle's mini camp.  At issue was the Legion of Boom's physical play in what was supposed to be non contact drills.  Apparently their so physical their own offensive players have issues with it, via The Seattle Times:
Offensive players complained loudly, feeling the defensive players were being a little too physically. The defensive players barked back that the offensive players had protesteth too much. On the next play, Sherman was covering Bates in the slot and the two locked up running down the field, which then turned into punches — Bates appearing to deliver the first blow after Bates’ helmet had come off. The players from both sides quickly joined in and broke things up. Still, emotions remained heated for a while.
Super Bowl champs or not the Seahawks must still be hungry to win and that's not good for the rest of the NFL.  A powerful defense that their own team's offense doesn't like.

Jayson Werth is Either a Great Athlete or He Doesn't Know How to Slide

Jayson Werth stopped his slide short, avoiding the shortstops tag and then reached the base before he was tagged.  Werth is either a great athlete or he doesn't know how to slide and stopped short on accident.  You be the judge, I'm leaning towards the doesn't know how to slide.

Kershaw Strikes Out 15 in Near Perfect Game

Clayton Kershaw was an error away from a perfect game.  The Dodgers' young left handed star made a bit of history with his 15 strikeouts as well, via LA Times:
"I'll remember this for the rest of my life," Kershaw said.
Never in major league history had a pitcher given up neither a hit nor a walk while striking out 15. The only pitcher with more strikeouts in a no-hitter: Nolan Ryan, the all-time strikeout leader.
As a pitcher whenever your mentioned with Nolan Ryan you're doing something right.  This was the first of probably many no hitters for Kershaw and it was as dominate as they come.

Chick Celebrates Australian World Cup Goal By Taking Off Her Top

I have to admit the World Cup is growing on me.  Not the running around and flopping all over the field for the little bit of scoring that goes on.  Seems like a lot of wasted energy.

It's the women that are attracted to the World Cup that is getting my attention.

Especially with celebrations like this!

U.S. Patent Office Strips Redskins Federal Trademarks

The fight against the Washington Redskins team name has gone to new heights.  Wednesday it was announced that the U.S. Patent Office voted to remove federal trademark rights from the Redskins, via the Yahoo:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Patent Office ruled Wednesday that the Washington Redskins nickname is "disparaging of Native Americans" and that the team's federal trademarks for the name must be canceled.
The 2-1 ruling comes after a campaign to change the name gained momentum over the past year. The team doesn't immediately lose trademark protection and is allowed to retain it during an appeal, which is likely.
The fight has gone political now and will likely result in a new change one way or another.  While there are Native Americans who support the team name it's clear their voices are being overshadowed by those who don't like it.

Spurs Fan Celebrates Too Hard

This Spurs fan goes a little too hard and pays for it with some street to the face.

Now we could spend a lot of time breaking down what went wrong but we'll keep it simple- he's too damn big to be standing up in the back of a truck, via Guyism:

I find it hard to believe that Mike Francesa didn't know that soccer playera kick with both legs.  He seems to be blown away by this fact.

Of course they can kick with both legs.  That's almost as dumb as asking if they can use their hands.

Pete Rose Fans Flocked to Connecticut

Why in the hell would Pete Rose fans flock to Connecticut?  Because an independent team in Bridgeport let him coach first base.

The 73 year old was banned from MLB 25 years ago and this is probably their only shot to see Rose coaching on a baseball field again.

Independent league teams are always looking to attract fans and this seems to have brought out plenty of middle aged white guy losers.

Buster Olney Caught a Foul Ball

Who knew Buster Olney could even catch a baseball?  Not this guy I would have bet against it.  I still don't think he can throw one!

The ESPN baseball analyst made his big play on a Jason Heyward foul ball Sunday.

Check Out Giancarlo Stanton's Line Drive Home Run

We all know by now Giancarlo Stanton has power.  But I don't think we realize, until now, how much power he has.  Stanton hit a line drive opposite field home run that was close to getting a grass stain on it's way out; that's how low it was.

Did the Zen Master Hire Fisher to go After Durant?

The fact that Phil Jackson hired one of his former players to coach the Knicks surprised few.  He absolutely wanted a guy who understood his system.

What may come as a bit of a surprise is word that Derek Fisher was hired as a way to possibly lure Kevin Durant to New York, via ESPN:
The Knicks, sources say, expect to be a contender for Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant when he is projected to become a free agent in July 2016 and believe their chances will be enhanced by the presence of Fisher, one of Durant's favorite teammates with the Thunder.
It makes sense and the Zen Master is all about long term goals.  Fisher played with Durant and could give the Knicks an advantage over other teams.  We have a little while before we find out if the rumor is true.

Spurs Championship T Shirts Take a Shot at LeBron

Remember when LeBron James announced he was taking his talents to South Beach?  Remember when he did that whole not 1 not 2 and so on championship nonsense?

Well so do the Spurs and unlike LeBron they've actually delivered.  This last one maybe the sweetest.  Redeeming last year's loss and stopping a threepeat at the same time.

This shirt puts that cherry right on top where it belongs.

Little Voice in Richard Sherman's Stomach Says LeBron Wants to Play For Mark Jackson

According to Stephen A Smith, Lebron James wants to play for Mark Jackson.  Only one problem with that....Jackson is currently unemployed.  But there are teams interested, including the Cavaliers.

Yasiel Puig Flips Bats After Walks Now

Yasiel Puig has increasingly taken his bat flips to new levels.  Flipping his bat for flyouts to center, doubles in the gap and now when he gets walked.  It's almost as if he can't get a bat out of his hand any other way.

John Calipari Pay for Play at Memphis?

Was John Calipari involved in a pay for play scheme while coaching at Memphis?  If you believe a story told by a former player's uncle he was.

The uncle claims his nephew, Pierre Henderson-Niles, started getting paid his senior year in high school all the way up until his junior year in college, via College Basketball Talk:
Stephen Saine is claiming that Coach Cal and then-assistant Derek Kellogg had a pay-for-play system in place for Henderson-Niles. Saine, who is Henderson-Niles’ uncle, even sent a letter to the NCAA making the allegations.

Now the player in question averaged 2.4 ppg in Calipari's last season at Memphis.  So if he was paying him, I hope it wasn't a lot!

One problem with the Uncle's story Henderson-Niles is denying it.

It's Drunken Manziel Talking into a Phone Made of Money

Johnny Manziel has been partying hard in between his stints on the Browns practice field and such was the case over the weekend.  A drunken Johnny Football was videotaped talking into an enormous stack of cash as it was a cell phone.

He doesn't make it easy to root for him does he?

Tony Gwynn is Dead at Age 54

Longtime Padre great and hall of famer, Tony Gwynn, has died just months after taking a leave of absence from his San Diego State coaching position.  Several news organizations have reported the passing as have the San Diego Padres, via Larry Brown Sports:
Former MLB slugger and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn died Monday morning at the age of 54, according to the San Diego Padres and various media outlets. Gwynn had taken a leave of absence from his position as San Diego State baseball coach back in March in order to receive cancer treatments.
Gwynn’s passing is a tragedy for the baseball world. He spent all 20 seasons of his career with the Padres, winning the NL batting title eight times and being named to the NL All-Star team 15 times. Gwynn is one of only 28 players to eclipse the 3,000-hit mark during his MLB career.
Gwynn had battled cancer in the past and one can only assume that it was cancer that played a role in his death.

Sports Illustrated Does the World Cup Right

I know there are a lot of people losing their minds over the World Cup and that's great...for them.  I personally don't get it.  Sports Illustrated helped me understand it a little better.  Want Americans to be interested in the World Cup like the rest of the world?  Paint World Cup jerseys on smoking hot chicks.

Sports Illustrated gets it.  The video is probably NSFW because it's just body paint and you can see nip.

Kings Ice Girl Falls Hard in Heels After Kings Win

Hannah Hunsinger is the Kings ice girl who somehow managed to land on her face after falling backwards on the ice following the Kings Stanley Cup victory.  The unfortunate incident was caught on camera and it appears as if her money maker was not hurt during the fall.

So there is a very important lesson to be learned and that is don't wear heels on ice of this could happen:

Golf Rarely Looks This Good

So I stumbled upon this lovely video of model/golfer Blair O'Neal and something called golf sexiest shots.  Who knew golf had sexy shots?  Not I, but I did learn if you have an attractive blonde showing off golf swings I actually watch more than 5 seconds of golf.

So site back relax the belt a little and learn a shot called the stinger.

The LA Kings Win the Stanley Cup in Double Overtime

I have to say that last night's NHL action was some of the best hockey I've seen in a long time.  Both teams came ready to play and despite clearly being over matched the NY Rangers didn't back down and made it a great game.

Both goalies put on a show, but in the end a rebound goal off of the stick of Alec Martinez was the difference in the second overtime period.

Ben Roethlisberger Took Some BP in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback took some BP with the Pirates and Ben Roethlisberger looked like he could handle the bat a little bit.  He reminds me of Adam Dunn's big ass.

It was all fun and games until Big Ben hit one that ended up hitting a Pirates coach in the head.

Shaq Licks Charles Barkley's Head

Charles Barkley was a guest on some show called "Starters" or something when his Inside the NBA partner Shaquillie O'Neal strolled into the picture and began to lick ans kiss his head.  There are all kinds of bizarre things on their show that go on and these two must do this stuff all the time because Barkley doesn't even miss a beat when Shaq begins to lick him.

Quintin Berry Gets Ejected Then Runs the Bases and Slides Into Home

Quintin Berry who has spent some time in the majors apparently isn't enjoying the minors very much.  After singling to left field he inexplicably turned around and said something to the home plate umpire.

The umpire tossed him then Berry decided to trot around the bases and slide into home before exiting the field.  Not sure if he just snapped or what, but maybe in his mind he believes he scored.

Is Carmelo Anthony Taking His Talents to South Beach?

TMZ caught up with Carmelo Anthony and asked him about the rumor that LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh were going to take pay cuts to add Carmelo to the Heat.  Carmelo played it cool claiming it's the first he's hearing about it.

Bill Simmons Whines Makes Sage Steele Shake Her Head

The Spurs Destroyed The Heat in Game 4

The Spurs are in the driver's seat as they're now up 3-1 on the Heat.  The 21 point game 4 victory really showcased the Spurs strengths.

So what is wrong with the Heat?  And why does a threepeat look so far out of reach?

Well here is a big reason, they no longer have the "big 3" it's more like the "big 2.5."  And it's not Chris Bosh it is Dwayne Wade that is losing the skills.  He hasn't been himself all season and the struggle has made it into the finals.

This should clear any confusion up:

The Angels Tested Cespedes Again

Remarkably the Angels tested Yoenis Cespedes arm again after he misplayed another ball.  Cespedes might be misplaying balls on purpose now.  He on back to back nights made incredible throws to nail Angels runners.

His first victim was Howie Kendrick who tried to score after a Cespedes misplay and this one was Albert Pujols who tried to stretch and easy double into three bases.

Eli Manning Says He's a Better Lover than Peyton Manning, But Peyton's a Better QB

Eli Manning went on Jay Mohr's radio show and answered some who's better questions.  Eli says he's a better lover but Peyton's the better quarterback.  He also claims he's his mom's favorite while Peyton is his dad's.

He also pimped a power of dad thing for Father's Day.

Nothing Gets Roberto Kelly Excited Like Flyouts to the Outfield

The former MLB player turned Giants first base coach, Roberto Kelly, was caught on camera enjoying a flyout by flexing his buttocks.  You can only assume he was reliving his youth when he too caught fly balls in the outfield.

Or maybe he just has a thing for getting back to the back and he thought if he flexed his cheeks that it would help his guy get back faster.  Either way it's created internet gold.

Check Out This Old Photo Of LeBron, Who Knew He Was a Spurs Fan?

Throw Back Thursday tends to bring out some pics of celebrities and athletes from back in the day.  Some times it's hard to tell what is real and what is fake.  This one of LeBron James in a Spurs jersey looks pretty legit.

Who knew he'd one day grow up and play against them in back to back finals?

Torii Hunter Had Sex Through Cramps What's Your Problem LeBron?

Torii Hunter took time to discuss cramps with Jim Rome.  Rome asked Hunter if he could relate to the cramp game that LeBron James had.

Hunter gave a fantastic answer explaining how he made it through sex with one so LeBron really didn't have an excuse.

Tim Tebow from 111 Archer Avenue

Check out more from me, including movie reviews & movie trailers, at 111 Archer Avenue (111aa.blogspot.com).  Also, follow me on Twitter @OlieCoen for sports & movie talk.

I miss Tim Tebow.  I know a lot of people got tired of hearing about a player who turned out to be mediocre at best, but man was he fun to watch.  As a Broncos fan I enjoyed having him on my team.  He was easy to root for, cared about winning more than most players, and wasn't afraid to lay it all on the line when it really mattered.  Now, I'm perfectly content having Peyton Manning instead, but I was a Tebow fan and fully supported him as a starter, despite his lack of technical or mental skills.  So I'm not saying he's elite, I'm not even saying that another team should give him another shot.  All I'm saying is that I miss the guy.  He was entertainment personified.  And he made Sundays better.

Caitlin Brunell, daughter of former NFL QB Mark Brunell, is the new Miss Alabama.  The proud Papa posted a pic of his daughter winning on twitter.

Caitlin Brunell, a 22-year-old recent graduate of the University of Alabama, was crowned Miss Alabama at Samford Univeristy's Wright Center Saturday night.

"I'm in complete shock," she said shortly after her crowning. "I don't know if I even have words to describe, but I have worked so hard for this moment. I could not be more proud to represent this state. This is an absolute honor and blessing. I'm just so thankful."
She'll compete in the next Miss America event in Atlantic City, NJ, on Sept. 14.

Yoenis Cespedes Misplays a Ball Then Makes Up For it With a Great Throw

Yoenis Cespedes made an unbelievable throw after he misplayed a ball down the line.  But hey without the misplay we wouldn't get to see this amazing throw.

Cespedes doesn't get the press his fellow countrymen get but he's just as good if not better.

Chael Sonnen Failed a Random Drug Test, Might Be a Woman?

Chael Sonnen was scheduled to fight Vitor Belfort in UFC 175, that until he failed a random drug test.  According to Between The Ropes, Sonnen tested positive for two female drugs:
Chael Sonnen has failed a random drug test and is out of his UFC 175 fight against Vitor Belfort. Sonnen tested positive for two illegal substances, Anastrozole and Clomiphene, which are two female drugs. Anastrozole is used to treat early stages of breast cancer and clomiphene is used in cases of female infertility.
Now this isn't the first time Sonnen has failed a drug test and he's also a well known proponent of TRT.  Even claiming since it was banned that he may have to retire.

As for the latest failed test could it be he's actually a woman?  And fought this whole time at a high level in the mens division?

He appeared on TV again, following repeated rants against the Triple Crown rules, this time to apologize.

The Derek Jeter Farewell Tour Got A Little Strange in KC Over The Weekend

(@SBNation)

A couple of Kansas City Royals fans paid tribute to Derek Jeter in a very strange way.  In doing so they also managed to work in their favorite outfit.

By far the most disturbing/unique way to say goodbye to the Yankees captain.

Adriana Lima is Helping Me Become Interested in The World Cup

Adriana Lima is trying real hard to get me interested in the World Cup.  Not just me, Americans in general because we just don't like soccer.

Deshea Townsend Denies Any Knowledge of Heroin, Guns or Chickens Found in a Home He Owns

Deshea Townsend was not one of two men arrested at a home he owns were 1500 bricks of heroin were found along with guns and a chicken.

Through his attorney Townsend has denied any knowledge of the items found in the home and claims it is a rental property, via WPXI:

The property in question was the subject of a lease purchase agreement executed on March 2012.

Neither individuals arrested in the drug bust were signatories to the March 2012 lease agreement.

Mr. Townsend employs a rental agents to conduct his affairs regarding this property and in no way, shape, or form is he associated with or suspected of any illegal activity or illegal actions that may have occurred at a property rented by him to others.

I guess he should probably be a little more involved in his properties.

Manny Machado Apologizes for Acting Like an Asshole

Before the Orioles took the field on Monday night and after a team meeting, Manny Machado got in front of a camera and apologized for his actions over the weekend.  Because everything is a soap opera now.

In part Machado had this to say:

“I want to apologize to all my teammates, my coaching staff, the entire Orioles organization, and Oakland and to my fans for the way I acted,” said Machado, who is facing a suspension from the league. “That’s not the way we play baseball around here.”

I've read a lot about how sincere it is and he deserves the benefit of doubt because he's so young.  BULLSHIT!

He's 26 years old, he's not a fucking baby.  He deserves to be suspended, he threw a bat at someone on purpose.  Stop making excuses for him because he can hit a baseball and he's a "good" guy.

And if it was so sincere why did the apology come after a team meeting?  And why didn't he apologize to the A's first?

It's a sad attempt by a player and an organization to reduce his suspension.

Knicks Have a New Coach: Derek Fisher Signs for 5 years and $25 Million

Derek Fisher has joined his mentor Phil Jackson in New York.  Fisher has decided to step off of the court and straight into an NBA coaching position, via Black Sports Online:
Knicks and Derek Fisher have agreed to a deal to make him the teams new head coach.
It was good enough for the Nets so why not the Knicks?  The Nets of course hired Jason Kidd straight off of the court and the former player, first year head coach, took the Nets to the playoffs.

Manny Machado and The Orioles are Pussies

If anyone saw the Manny Machado hissy fit this weekend and took his side then you're an idiot.

Machado was upset when he was tagged by Oakland A's third baseman Josh Donaldson, on what seemed to be a routine play.

Routine that is until Machado, who fell down on the play jumped up and slammed his helmet in Donaldson's direction.  Not upset that he had been tagged out, no instead upset at what he thought was too aggressive of a tag.

That should have been the end of his little tantrum, but it wasn't.  Because in Donaldson's next at bat he was hit with a pitch.  So his Orioles teammates agreed with Machado's outrage.

Now of course the benches cleared and by the end of the night nobody was happy.

Breaking News: Aaron Rodgers has been Spotted With a Female

Long rumored to be gay, Aaron Rodgers was photographed not only with a woman, but kissing the woman.  The woman is the beautiful actress Olivia Munn.

There have been rumors lately that the two have been in a relationship.  A relationship that began at the Country Music Awards, where the two were presenters.

D Wade Got This Called a Foul

Dwayne Wade deserves some sort of acting award for this.  I'm not sure what the refs were looking at but Manu Ginobli didn't even come close to hitting Wade in the face.

But Wade's acting got the call.

LeBron Drops 35 and The Heat Take Game 2

LeBron James followed up the game 1 cramp game by dropping 35 and leading the Heat to a game 2 victory.  LeBron took control of the game in the 3rd quarter as he took over.

Dude Takes a Bat From a Guy in a Neck Brace

Stuff flying into the stands at baseball games makes people lose their minds.  All in the name of a souvenir.

Nothing illustrates this point more than this GIF from The Score, that shows a fan pulling Adam Dunn's bat out of the hands of a man with a neck brace on.

Chris Sale and His Mustache Not Enough for Mike Trout

Chris Sale took a 5-1 lead into the 8th inning against the Angels in Anaheim.  That's when the wheels fell off as Sale loaded the bases and was kept in to face Mike Trout.  Trout proved to be too much even for such a nice mustache and tied the game with a grand slam.

The slam mad it possible for the eventual 6-5 win for the Angels.

Rashad McCants Claims UNC Academic Fraud, Roy Williams Responds

Rashad McCants alleges huge academic fraud at UNC, especially the basketball program.  McCants also indicates Roy Williams was heavily involved.

Of course this would be a big issue for UNC and the NCAA.  If it's going on here it's likely going on around the NCAA.  McCants has clearly lifted the lid on a possible huge issue for UNC.

As you would expect Roy Williams is denying that this took place.

No Triple Crown Winner this Year and California Chrome's Owner is Not Happy About It

Steve Coburn the owner of California Chrome was very upset and blasted the owners of the other horses who don't run in the other races by saying they took the cowards way out.

Alex Morgan Sports Illustrated Bikini Photo Shoot

Enough said right?  I mean Alex Morgan bikini photo shoot should be enough.

Sports Illustrated does a great job not only with the pictures it takes, but with the behind the scenes videos it shares.

Should I have mentioned earlier that there was a video?  Either way here it is:

LeBron Was On His Menstual Cycle, The Heat Drop Game 1

The Heat was on in San Antonio as the story is the A/C went out driving the temp in the arena to over 90 degrees by the 4th quarter.

LeBron James was the most affected as he started cramping and couldn't play much at the end of the game.

LeBron's inability to stay in the kitchen opened the way for a 31-9 Spurs run and the Spurs took game 1, 110-95.

Check Out the Ravens taking a Dig at the Kaepernick Signing

The Ravens have had some interesting tweets before so it's not completely outrageous that they would take a shot at the Colin Kaepernick signing.  Add in the fact that the head coaches of the Ravens and 49ers are brothers and it makes even more sense.

But is the best way to dispute the fact that your quarterback is overpaid to make a case that another quarterback is more overpaid?  Isn't that conceding the fact that Joe Flacco is overpaid?

LeBron's Finals Kicks Revealed

Oh girl thank the Lord that the NBA posted what shoes LeBron James will be wearing in the finals.  I hope his headband matches or at least a wristband or something needs to be on point honey.

God Stopped Johnny Football From Throwing Out the First Pitch

Even God didn't want to see Johnny Manziel throw out the first pitch at a Cleveland Indians game.  Manziel's first pitch was rained out, but they still dragged his sorry ass onto the field so he could do that stupid money thing he does.

I'm sorry I personally can't wait to see him get destroyed by the NFL.

NFLPA Rookie Premiere from 111 Archer Avenue

A choice few from the 2014 NFL rookie class recently came together for a photo opp & press event.  The gathering was hosted by the NFL Players Association at the L.A. Colosseum, and there we got our first look at some of football's fresh faces.  The players wore their home colors, with names & numbers on their jerseys, giving a better preview than the practice uniforms they wear during OTAs.  Here's a look at some pics from the event.  Check out more from me, including movie reviews & movie trailers, at 111 Archer Avenue (111aa.blogspot.com).  Also, follow me on Twitter @OlieCoen for sports & movie talk.

How's This For a Stanley Cup Finals Goal?

The Los Angeles Kings took game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime, beating the Rangers 3-2.  The victory wasn't without some style.

Drew Doughty's between the legs goal in the second period tied the game at 2 and paved the way for the overtime victory.

Kaepernick Agrees to Contract With 49ers, $61 Million Dollars Guaranteed

The 49ers have agreed to a new contract with their quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.  The deal could be worth as much a $126 million over 6 years and includes $61 million dollars guaranteed.  Sound like a lot of guaranteed money?  It is...it's the highest guaranteed amount in the history of the NFL.

Is Kaepernick worth $61 million guaranteed?  I doubt it and I think the 49ers will find out the hard way when they struggle to resign players because of his contract.  Is he a good quarterback?  Yes he is, but he also gets the luxury of being on a very good team.

And if you already hate him this won't help.  Kaepernick signed his deal with a flat bill and a quill pen like only a huge asshole would.

Nelson Cruz Goes Deep in His Return to Texas

Nelson Cruz hit his league best 21st home run in his return to Texas.  Cruz has 21 home runs in 55 games this season, he hit 27 in 109 games last season.  A season that was shortened for him because of a PED suspension.  When are people going to start asking how he is doing this?

Anybody who is suspended for PED's and comes back and somehow plays even better needs to be fully evaluated.  Could you imagine all the shit that would be spewed if this was A Rod doing this not Cruz?  Where are those same critics?

I for one am very skeptical of his power!

Arianny Celeste Did a Dance Video With Her Friends

UFC ring girl/model Arianny Celeste did a little dance video with a couple of her friends.  Besides not being very good at dancing they are wearing bikinis, which let's face it, is the only reason I'm posting it.  If you can't be good at stuff at least look good doing it, via Black Sports Online:

Pretty Much Sums Up Being a Cubs Fan

One of the scoreboard operators fell asleep on the job during the Cubs 2-1 win over the Mets.  To me it's exactly what all Cubs fans are like.  Or atleast they should be.

Fall asleep during the game or the season for that matter because at the end of the year the Cubbies are no longer going to be in it.

Jose Abreu is Keeping Everyone on Their Toes

Chicago White Sox rising star, Jose Abreu has been hitting the cover off of the ball this season.  He showed everyone last night why you need to pay attention to his at bats.

Abreu smashed a ball down the left field line that sent the security guard over a wall looking for cover.

Ben Tate and Robo Cop Throw Like Girls, Both Better than 50 Cent

Ben Tate was in Cleveland to throw out the first pitch and the new Cleveland Browns running back didn't have the best of form, but still threw the ball better than 50 Cent.

Check Out the Broncos Super Bowl Champ Swag Headed to Africa

The Super Bowl losers clothing get shipped overseas and last year's Super Bowl losing team the Denver Broncos swag is headed to Africa, according to CBS Sports.  The NFL has a deal with World Vision to distribute the losing team's clothing to countries in need of clothing.

Dan Marino Might Have Suffered Serious Brain Damage

Dan Marino now claims he accidentally sued the NFL over concussion because he's been hit in the head a lot and doesn't know what is going on a lot of the time.  Marino may need to keep his name in that lawsuit, via Sun Sentinel:
"Within the last year I authorized a claim to be filed on my behalf just in case I needed future medical coverage to protect me and my family in the event I later suffered from the effects of head trauma," Marino said. "In so doing I did not realize I would be automatically listed as a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the NFL. I have made the decision it is not necessary for me to be part of any claims or this lawsuit and therefore I am withdrawing as a plaintiff effective immediately. I sympathetic to other players who are seeking relief who may have suffered head injuries. I also disclaim any references in the form complaint of current head injuries."

Nick Saban is Filthy Rich

Nick Saban just signed a new contract with Alabama, a contract that could pay him up to $55 million dollars.  Because hell no the NCAA ain't paying the players, you know the ones who actually risk serious bodily injury for entertainment, via USA Today:
Saban, 62, had been scheduled to make about $5.5 million for the upcoming season under a deal that had been set to run through Jan. 31, 2020. Saban is now under contract through Jan. 31, 2022.
If Saban completes the re-structured deal, he will make a total at least $55.2 million. If Alabama terminates without cause prior to the end of the contract, it would owe him no more than about $23.3 million.
It's absolutely ridiculous that the athletes who bring in the revenue for the schools aren't getting paid but the coaches salaries are skyrocketing.  I know not all college coaches are raking in $55 million, but there are plenty making millions.

This is Why We Love Gronkowski

Because he's care free and fun.  Dude loves a good time and doesn't let very much distract him from enjoying himself.

Rob Gronkowski is recovering from a knee injury he suffered last season the only way Gronk knows how.  That's right on a TV show.  The Patriots' wild child tight end was on "Who's Line is it Anyway."

Why you might ask?  Why the hell not he would answer.  I'm sure the Patriots are loving his appearances in Vegas and on TV.

See more of Gronk on "Who's Line is it Anyway" here.

Dan LeBatard Let The Pacers Have It

It appears that Dan LeBatard is unhappy with the Heat making it back to the finals for the fourth straight year.  The outspoken sports show host is taking out his frustration on the Pacers.

Dan Marino Joins Lawsuit Against NFL Over the "C" Word

Dan Marino has joined a group of 14 others suing the NFL over concussions.  Marino is one of the biggest name to join any of the concussion lawsuits, via LA Times:

Dan Marino, the Hall of Fame member and former Miami Dolphins quarterback, last week sued the NFL over concussions, according to federal court records.

As the behind-the-scenes effort to gain approval for the proposed $765-million settlement of the concussion litigation continues, Marino and 14 other former players sued in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia.

At least 41 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, or their estates, are among about 5,000 former players suing.

The NFL fight over concussions is not close to being over, even with a settlement.

Katherine Webb in a T Shirt and Jean Shorts Will Make Your Day

Tagging along with her fiancee, AJ McCarron, for his rookies photo shoot was the lovely Katherine Webb.  Her clothing is more impressive than his NFL jersey, trust me on this one.  Webb was likely handing out boners all day long, because damn a t shirt and jean shorts combo should be her required attire.

Marlon Byrd Needs to Loosen His Grip

Marlon Bryd broke his bat swinging and missing.  That's right his bat broke at the handle when Bryd swung his bat, he didn't even hit the ball.

Dude needs to stay off of the PED's and relax the grip a bit, via Busted Coverage:

Tim Duncan is Ready for The Heat

Tim Duncan and his Spurs teammstes still have a bitter taste in their mouths from last year's finals.  Duncan expressed his happiness that they will get another shot at the Heat, via Larry Brown Sports:

“We were ready last year, we just couldn’t get over that hump,” Duncan said after Game 6 Saturday. “We’re happy to be back this year. We’re happy to have another opportunity at it. We’re happy that it’s the Heat again. We’ve got that bad taste in our mouths still, so hopefully we’ll be ready to take it this time.”

It should make for a pretty interesting series.  Duncan doesn't usually speak out in this way and it shows just how hungry the Spurs are for the rematch.

John Elway's Son Threw a Woman Out of a Moving Vehicle

Jack Elway, son of NFL legend John Elway, was arrested and charged with assault and disturbing the peace.  He supposedly pushed a 23 year old woman out of a moving car, via CBS Denver:

Sources familiar with the case say that in the last several days, Elway, who goes by the nickname “Jack,” allegedly pushed a 23-year-old woman out of a moving car near the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Lipan Street.

It’s unclear the extent of the woman’s injuries but one source familiar with the case told CBS4 the woman had no visible injuries.
