Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks have agreed to increase Marshawn Lynch's pay.
The team bowed down to one of the most important players on the offensive side of the ball after Lynch stuck to his holdout demands.

Full details on revised Marshawn Lynch deal coming at PFT. New base for 2014 is $6 million with $500,000 signing bonus.

Not a bad deal for both sides considering how much of a role Lynch plays in their offense. More skittles for Lynch!

Cliff Lee Leaves Start in 3rd Inning With an Arm Injury

One of the trade rumor pitchers was Cliff Lee who just made his wasy back from injury. Lee stayed put and was on the hill tonight for the Phillies when he left in the third inning with an arm injury.
Lee threw a pitch an then dropped an F bomb before pointing at his arm and exiting the game.

The NFL Preseason kicks off this weekend; Sunday, August 3rd at 8pm on NBC. The game is between the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills, and will be played at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio, right next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If you've never been to the Hall, I highly recommend it. I haven't been in years but it's an experience every football fan needs to have. Apparently they've redone it recently and it's even cooler, so I plan on checking it out ASAP. The stadium itself is a great place to see a football game. I went a few years back when it was Colts vs Redskins. The stadium is so small that you feel like you're watching a high school game and the players are literally right there. Anyway, here's a look at what to watch for during the game.
Woman Catches Home Run Ball in Her Beer....on Accident
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

(@GameSigns)
As you can see the woman knows the ball is near, but has no idea that the ball is heading right for her until the last second.
To be far to the woman none of the fans seem to know where the ball is going to end up.
That beer may have saved her life. Who knows how hard it would have hit her had the beer not slowed it down.

Red Sox Trade Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes to the A's and Get Yoenis Cespedes in Return
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Red Sox and A's pulled off a trade deadline blockbuster. The A's are hopeful that they can make World Series run and have strenghtened their rotation, but at what cost?
Sure the A's get Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes, but they gave up a young talent in Yoenis Cespedes.

Manny Machado With Another Amazing Throw
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The strength of Manny Machado's arm is on full display on this play. The young Orioles third baseman has made this play before, but it is not any less impressive. There are very few even among the professional ranks that can make this throw so far in foul territory and pretty much flat footed.
Not to mention the fact that he made this throw and got the runner out. Sure it was Albert Pujols and he's not the swiftest of foot, but he would have gotten a pretty large number of other MLBers too.

Drew Brees Hit a Frisbee with a Football
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
I'm on the fence as to whether this is impressive or not. So Drew Brees can hit a frisbee with a football. I may or may not be able to as well, but I'm not an NFL quarterback. I would expect an elite passer to be able to do such things.
Either way someone recorded it and now there is internet chum for us to feed on, enjoy.

Kurt Warner Threw the Ball Around at Rams Training Camp
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Rams fans might be asking Kurt Warner to come out of retirement with passes like these. Warner looked pretty good for an old retired quarterback and probably would give the inconsistent Sam Bradford a run for his money.
I wonder if Warner is feeling the itch, especially after throwing passes to a couple of young receivers.

Cowboys Tight End Coach Likes to Get Tight Ends Shirtless and Throw Water on Them
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
I wish it was made up. The Cowboys tight ends coach, Mike Pope, likes to throw ice water on his shirtless tight ends because that's what gets him going...oh I mean it's good for concentration, via The Sports Daily:
Why shirtless and why ice water? Is this something they will face in a game?
“I’ve got one that I did [Tuesday], where at the end of practice, I have somebody fire a ball at them. I collect all the ice water out of the Gatorade bins, and they take their shirts off, and just as the ball gets to them, I hit them in the lower part of their back with that ice water and see if they concentrate and catch that ball, because, I mean, it’s cold.”

LeBron James Stripped Down to His Underwear

LeBron James has fans all over the world and did a little entertaining on a recent trip to Taiwan.
The return of LeBron wouldn't be complete without a striptease abroad, would it?
LeBron, already shirtless, took off his shoes, signed them then tossed them into the crowd of fans.
What he did next probably caught them all of guard. He took off his shorts and signed them, then tossed them into the crowd.

Charlie Blackmon Made a Great Catch that No One Saw

Charlie Blackmon has been a feel good story for the Colorado Rockies this season. The 28 year old seems to have finally put it together this season at the plate. He's hitting .300 with 14 home runs and 54 RBIs.
This play however shows him flashing some leather with a great diving catch in extra innings. Too bad most of the fans at Wrigley had already left.

So a man who didn't strike a woman and leave her unconscious receives a harsher punishment for misspeaking about the incident than the man who actually struck the woman and knocked her out!

You can see the video, that is so proudly displayed by the Ravens on their website, here.

Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons is becoming known for making spectacular defensive plays and this bare handed play will add to that. Simmons runs up on a little flair before realizing he can't catch the ball in the air, he slows down to field it when it kicks awkwardly towards left field. That's when he fields the ball bare handed and throws the runner out.

This it what is wrong with the NFL!
Adolpho Birch is the V.P. of the NFL and he went on the Mike and Mike show and defended the NFls' punishment of Ray Rice. He ignored the fact that the fans of NFL are unhappy with the punishment. He glosses over and fails to recognize that Ray Rice knocked his then fiancee unconscious on and elevator with a punch to her face and then dragged her body off of the elevator and left her laying on the floor.
He refused, with arrogance, to explain the basic facts of how the NFL came to it's decision and smugly claims the punishment is fair.

"No doubt. There's no question," Brees said, in a private moment. "I'm not getting ahead myself, like it's a pipe dream, at 45. I understand the challenges that come along with that. But why not? If I can stay healthy, and I'm having fun and playing at a high level, why wouldn't I wanna do that? The biggest challenge is physically, the maintenance, the recovery, the way you train. You gotta hope that you stay healthy, but why not?"

There is now twitter news (not confirmed by Chris Broussard) from a "trusted source" that it's a done deal. According to Travis Lee a Portland Maine sports anchor and his trusted source:

Tim Lincecum Has Two Baseballs Coming His Way at the Same Time
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Everyone knows a ball in the dirt during a major league baseball game means that ball is yucky and the pitcher needs a new one. Everyone except for the Giants catcher.
You rarely see a ball that has touched the dirt thrown back to the pitcher. It's even more rare that both the catcher and umpire throw a ball to the pitcher at the same time.
That's exactly what happened to Tim Lincecum. Check out his matrix like move to avoid one of the balls and still had the ability to catch one of them.

Blue Jays Baby Not Impressed With Blue Jays Offense
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
A snoozing baby was caught on camera during the Blue Jays and Red Sox game. The little Blue Jays fan wasn't impressed with his team's offense as the Red Sox blew out the Blue Jays 14-1.
He probably wasn't the only Blue Jays fan snoozing as that pretty much tells the story of the game.

Tony Dungy Says He Wouldn't Have Drafted Michael Sam Because...Things Will Happen

Former NFL coach turned NFL Analyst, Tony Dungy, told The Tampa Tribune that he wouldn't have drafted Michael Sam.
“I wouldn’t have taken him,’’ said former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy, now an analyst for NBC. “Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it.
“It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.’’Things will happen? What kind of terrible things will happen that you wouldn't want to deal with?
Tim Tebow is Still Working Out For the NFL
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Tim Tebow continues to workout and train ti play quarterback in the NFL. Is this sad yet?
I'm truly a fan of this kid for his heart and his work ethic, but give up the NFL quarterback dream. There is no doubting his talent with a football. But he can't throw at an NFL level.
I wish he would attempt another position because like I said he has skills with the football in his hands. He's athletic enough to get a shot at another position.
Judging the talk in this video about his work with a quarterback coach, I doubt he's ever going to let it go.

The Arizona Diamondbacks Announcers Go All in with Star Wars Costumes
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Arizona Diamondbacks had a Star Wars day at Chase Field and even the announcers got into the action. Both Steve Berthiaume and Bob Brenly opened the telecast in Star Wars gear.
These types of promotions are usually seen in the minors and it's a little fitting that the triple A+ Diamondbacks would be doing such a promotion.

Brian McCann Adds Another Way to Walk Off
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
A tie game between the Yankees and Reds in the 9th turns into a walk off victory for the Yankees and an embarrassment for the Reds. Brian McCann hit a weak pop up behind first base, with a runner on third and one out in the 9th, off of Aroldis Chapman.
Out number two right? Wrong the ball drops between the right fielder, second and first basemen and the runs scores.
Anthony Rizzo Made a Great Catch But Plays for the Cubs So Of Course it Backfired
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Anthony Rizzo showed great range and ability making a catch that took him into the camera well. But in true Cub fashion the play allowed a run to score from third.
The run put the Diamondbacks up by one run, a run that turned out to be the difference as the Cubs lost the game 3-2.
You don't struggle as an organization like the Cubs have without plays like this.

Chris Kluwe Has Turned His Assault on the Vikings into an Assault on the NFL
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Chris Kluwe, the outspoken former Vikings punter, currently in a battle of words with his former team, is now focusing his energy on the NFL. He shared his thoughts on the NFL with a Minnesota Fox station:
“The NFL is a league where you can get redemption for killing someone, for beating your wife in an elevator, for driving drunk, for a whole variety of things but when you speak out for civil rights, that's the one thing you cannot get redeemed for,” Kluwe added.
Adam Jones Forgot How Many Outs There Were and Allowed a Run to Score
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Adam Jones coasted in and made a routine catch for an out. He continued to jog off the field as if he had made the third out.
The problem with that is it was only the second out and there was a runner on third who tagged up and scored easily. It was the third run of what ended up being a 10-2 loss for the Orioles.

Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Mike Trout and Albert Pujols mock Fernando Rodney after causing him to blow a save. The Angels not only blew Rodney's save they also won the game with a two out walk off RBI.
But back to the mockery, Pujols drove Trout in and the two decided to shoot arrows at each other mocking Rodney's save celebration. The wild west is heating up and this will surely be used as a little fuel as they battle it out in the american league west and the playoff picture starts to take shape.

Odrisamer Despaigne Drops His Pants in the Middle of a No Hitter
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

Padres pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne took a no hitter against the New York Mets into the 8th inning. The Cuban defector pitched brilliantly in only his 5th start in the Majors. Despaigne would eventually give up a hit and the shutout but not before he had a Steve Lyons like moment.
You may remember Lyons famous dropping of his pants to tuck in his shirt after he slid into first base head first. Despaigne needed no such play, just an untucked jersey. The 27 year old right hander unzipped and unbuttoned his pants before tucking in his jersey as if it was a normal thing to do on a baseball field.
It got a rise out of his home crowd and gave him just enough of a break to get out of the inning, but it's not an everyday occurrence in major league baseball.

A Boston Red Sox ball girl makes a play on a fair ball then in a hilarious attempt, drops the ball and walks away like no one would notice. She might be looking for a new gig following her mistake.
The Red Sox won the game anyway and the interference probably didn't alter the play, but you still want someone guarding the lines that knows the rules.

Harold Reynolds interviewed Koji Uehara's son because that's what happens during the All Star break. He asks the young Uehara, "so how'd you learn English so good? Growin up here?"
Not only does he destroy the English language in the process of asking a question about someone's ability to speak English, but as Koji's son says he grew up in Japan. So Reynolds didn't bother to do his interview prep work either.
But isn't that why we love him so much?

— Sports Illustrated (@SInow) July 11, 2014
LeBron James has announced via Sports Illustrated that he will be returning to Cleveland. This time he says he's not holding a press conference or doing any kind of huge announcement. Instead he wrote an article detailing his decision, part of it is below:
I’m doing this essay because I want an opportunity to explain myself uninterrupted. I don’t want anyone thinking: He and Erik Spoelstra didn’t get along. … He and Riles didn’t get along. … The Heat couldn’t put the right team together. That’s absolutely not true.
I’m not having a press conference or a party. After this, it’s time to get to work.
When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling. Our city hasn’t had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what’s most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio. The real question is Cleveland big enough for LeBron and Johnny Football? I mean can LeBron deliver that championship to Cleveland now?
Rory McIlroy Hit a Golf Ball Really Far

As you can see in the video Rory McIlroy hit the shit out of a golf ball. Officially it went 436 feet. Normally I'd say test his piss but I know this is due to his new Irish model girlfriend and her pot of gold.
Tanaka Has Partially Torn UCL
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Yankees pitching injuries continue. This time it's the ace of the staff Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka has apartially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
That usually means one thing, Tommy John surgery, but the Yankees are reporting the tear is small. While not ruling out the surgery Tanaka will first rehab the injury and attempt a platelet-rich plasma injection.
If this works he could return in 6 weeks, if not Tommy John surgery would likely follow.

Mariners Ball Girl Makes a Nice Play

The Mariners might want to consider signing up the ball girl as they've dropped 3 of the last 4 to the Twins. She might even provide that extra bat or some power in that powerless lineup.

Aroldis Chapman Throws Two 100 MPH Pitches Near Batter's Head, Sparks a Bench Clearing Shoving Match
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
In the 9th inning of tied game between the Cubs and Reds Aroldis Chapman had a couple of fastballs end up near the head of a Cubs batter. The Cubs and especially Anthony Rizzo took exception to that fact, but in a tie game in the 9th, I doubt Chapman was throwing the ball at the hitter.
So a bench clearing shoving match took place because Chapman and Rizzo couldn't let it go.

Adrian Beltre Strikes Out While Outside of the Batter's Box
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Adrian Beltre was called out on strikes after he stepped out of the batter's box believing he had called time. Beltre should have waited for time to be called, he clearly attempted to call time, but he did so very late and the umpire didn't give it to him. Not really sure why Beltre is so upset, you have to make sure timeout is granted.

The Washington Redskins have long been associated with controversy. Their nickname has gained them the ire of the Native American community, as well as others who believe that such antiquated mascots shouldn't exist in our modern world. And it's not just in Washington that there's a push for change. All over America team names are being changed, dropping the 'Braves' and becoming the 'Bobcats', recognizing that some monikers are offensive to some groups. Names like 'Seminoles' and 'Illini' remain, as they are specifically representing groups, not the vague and imperfect idea of Native American culture. But change is coming across the board, and it's time that the Redskins get on.

Anthony Rendon had something happen that you rarely see. His home run was throw back. Now that happens all the time, but usually when you're on the road not in your home ballpark.
The reason Rendon's homer was tossed back is because an Orioles fan ended up catching it. Ahh crosstown rivals what a dream come true.
